KFC Attack Aftermath: A Diplomatic Apology

An article titled "How Foreigners Are Doing in the Mazowiecki Province" appeared in Gazeta Wyborcza last Wednesday May 25. The article opened with the following sentence:

A Cameroonian, Emmanuel Bianda has opened a telecommunication firm in partnership with three other refugees. The Firm, LOCO international, has employed three Poles. Emmanuel spend over three years in the UK working for Amnesty International as a fundraiser and decided to return to Poland to start a business.

Considered to be the leading daily newspaper in Eastern Europe, Gazeta Wyborcza is Poland’s most prestigous newspaper. This means any story that appears in it is considered weigthy. After the KFC attack, and following the pressrelease sent out, a journalist from the paper was on the tail of the Editor of VOICE OF EXILE to dig into the matter.

Even though the article made NO mention of the racial incident, it is evident that the article was a form of a diplomatic apology to the victim Emmanuel Bianda. Seen from this light, it follows that the press release made sense and was taken in good faith by Gazeta Wyborcza and the vast majority of Poles. This means that constructive criticism is always appreciated by those who are conscious of the complex traits of social justice.

Empowering self-help organisations to be conscious of their social responsibilities therefore makes sense. Writers/poets it follows, should also be aware of the fact that their role in society is essential for collective progress.

The pen, it is said, is mightier than the sword and a write/poet represents a one-man institution. Quite often a simple action, which in the long run could catalyze change, is often ignored or neglected because someone ridicules such an effort on the grounds that ‘attempting to change the world is an impossible feat’. But bringing the attention of the public to such vital issues is beneficial, though the opposite effect is equally possible, i.e., going public can win one more allies, as well as enemies. Viewed from this point, it should shouldn't’t however be misconstrued that this author lives in a world powered by myths.

Emmanuel was at the Police yesterday and he was advised to consider taking  a lawsuit against KFC for failing to protect a client. You shall be updated of any progress and thanks for your support.
